One autumn day when I had some time to spare, I was wondering where to have lunch and dropped by Ishijima. The line was fairly long, though.

It was autumn. Back then…
After waiting about 20 minutes, a staff member came out and told us where their newly opened branch was. So I headed over to that branch on my own.
The branch
The main shop was a bit shabby, but the branch was spotless and the staff very friendly.
The name is written in Roman letters.
As you can tell from the prices, a 1,500 yen lunch at a sushi place where the chef hand-forms each piece for you is almost unheard of. In Japanese they also call it mawaranai sushi, sushi that doesn’t go round on a conveyor belt.
Since it was my first visit, I ordered the nigiri. The 4,000 yen omakase looked good too, but I’ll have to try that next time.

Miso soup
The miso soup was really delicious.

The last piece
For 1,500 yen the portion is on the small side. The toppings were ordinary too, apart from the anago at the end. Looks like the omakase was the right call after all.
