Pâtisserie Asako Iwayanagi is a dessert café that is famous across Japan. Chef Iwayanagi, who was already running a successful dessert café elsewhere, apparently opened this place under her own name in a residential part of Todoroki. It is one stop from Oyamadai, and really close.
Cakes
They sell all sorts of cakes, and off to one side a class was going on. The atmosphere is clean and open, the kind of place you can bring kids to. Au Bon Vieux Temps looked like a tough place to take a child because the seating is so cramped, but the concept here is completely different.
Cakes
There were all kinds of cakes, but I had just come from eating some seriously good cake, so I could not get too interested.
Cakes
The style has personality. Every shop you go to has something that is its own.
Pound cakes and scones
Baked goods
Ice cream
Wine
Seasonal special parfait
They said there was exactly one special parfait left, so I ordered it. The ingredients are clearly top-notch, but the taste is, how to put it, on the healthy side. Not very sweet. A little disappointing.. I suppose that is the signature of the desserts here.
Inside the kitchen
The person looking back over there turned out to be the chef, in the middle of running the class..
The railway tracks
Moving on to the next stop, Kuhonbutsu, which takes no time at all.
In front of Oyamadai Station
This is the view in front of Oyamadai Station; the station is really tiny. It looked so summery that I took a shot.
