A dessert cafe called Un Grain has opened in Aoyama. The pastry chef trained at Au Bon Vieux Temps, so my expectations were high.
The entrance
The interior is truly a work of art.
Cakes
They are tiny.
Cakes
Small, but the flavour is spot on. Another top-class shop is born.
The pastry chef
Hard at work.
Biscuits
I agonised over what to buy. I picked six, and every one of them was delicious.
Decor
Sadly it was the day before White Day, so the cafe space wasn’t open. I really loved this place, so I’ll have to come back.
A dessert cafe I spotted on the way back
It seems to specialise in apple pie, and the queue was enormous. So many places to try…
Jean-Paul Hévin in Omotesando
The queue is so long it’s almost absurd. And every single person in it is a man. As you know, Jean-Paul Hévin is not exactly cheap. If anyone tells me Japan is in a recession, I want to show them this photo.
The men of Isetan
Hundreds of men were lined up. Phew…
Sadaharu Aoki signing autographs at the Isetan counter.
And the men with blank faces…
I came across Dassai chocolat on the street and bought some.
Tokyo is a consumer paradise where you simply can’t help spending money.
