I was lucky enough to be in Tokyo right around White Day. Since the 14th fell on a Monday, I wandered around the city on the weekend of the 12th and 13th, and there were amazing desserts everywhere.
Libertable’s chocolates
They were breathtakingly beautiful, but my photo came out pretty blurry. I tried a sample, and it was pleasantly tart and delicious. Of all the chocolates I saw that day, these were my favourite.
Cakes at Libertable
They had so many gorgeous desserts on sale. I’d love to set aside a day and work my way through them one by one.
Sadaharu Aoki’s cake
The design is seriously something. Strawberries galore.
Pierre Hermé’s cakes
These were gorgeous too. A shame they’re a limited edition, I suppose.
Le Chocolat de H
That glossy shine is unreal.
Sphère
A chocolate that costs a whopping 1,301 yen.
Joël Robuchon’s bread
Beautiful, just as you’d expect in cherry blossom season.
And yet all these lovely desserts vanished from the shelves as soon as the 14th passed. I wanted to go back and buy more later, but there was nothing left to buy.
