Ssiat Hotteok in Nampo-dong

Since we were here on a trip, we decided to drop by Jagalchi Market, walk the streets of Nampo-dong, and try the ssiat hotteok (seed-stuffed hotteok) too.

Hmm… it was crowded and there was a fair bit of touting going on. Not sure the prices were even cheap either…

The scenery is like a painting, though, especially up toward the hills.

 

There are two places selling ssiat hotteok, and both claim to be the original.

 

First, the one on the right

The two stalls sit right next to each other yet have different recipes. In Seoul they’d have just copied each other exactly, right? I liked the first one, the Lee Seung-gi hotteok stall, better.

 

Tired from walking around, we went into a department store, and there was Longbread…

Who’d have thought a bakery that started in Yeoksam-dong would make it to Busan. I was so happy to see it. It made me feel that Busan really is an international city.
