Doux Moment Pudding Atelier, Hongdae

I heard a rumor that a pudding shop had opened in Hongdae, and that it was really good, so I hurried over. The tweet I posted back then went past 3,000 retweets, the first time in my Twitter life I had anything close to a hit.

The entrance

It is hard to see, but there is an eat-in space with two tables inside. The crème brûlée can only be eaten in the eat-in space.

Paul & Paulina is right next door.

Peony too..

I am not sure how things are these days. I did hear they opened a cafe in Yeontral Park (the Gyeongui Line Forest Park), though.

Inside Doux Moment

The atmosphere inside has not changed much between that day and now. It was on this visit that I found out Gundam Base, Paul & Paulina and Peony had all moved into one building in front of Hongdae. Putting them together like this creates real synergy. I hope they can steer clear of gentrification and all that and stay in business for a long, long time.

Crème brûlée

Astonishingly good. It might be the best I have had in Korea. I have no idea how they got the balance so exquisitely right.

The puddings I took home

I especially liked the chocolate pudding. There are plenty of places in Japan that do custard pudding well, but for chocolate pudding this place might be the very best.
