Right before the end of the Chuseok holiday I visited Miro Sikdang in Hongdae. It was another long day of eating, and Miro Sikdang was where it all started.
Salad
I did not do the ordering that day, my friends ordered everything, so I am not sure whether the salad is on the menu or whether they just brought it out on the house.
Whisky soda (Glen Grant)
It had been a while since my last visit, and a new drink had been added to the menu. I ordered it on purpose, and it was really good. A bit similar to the Hwayo cocktail, but with a proper single malt flavor. The owner really does have good taste..
Seafood and chive pancake
It is the signature dish of Miro Sikdang, so I always order it.
Marinated grilled pork shoulder
Sweet marinated pork shoulder grilled with care. This is probably the best-selling dish at Miro Sikdang.
Tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)
This is not a regular menu item. The owner, who loves Chinese food, made it personally for a guest who was visiting for the first time in ages. It beats most Chinese restaurants hands down, but it is not on the menu and I doubt it ever will be.
Fried shrimp
I think this was my first time ordering it, and they used good ingredients.
After finishing the whisky soda, we ordered a bottle of Hwayo and made cocktails with it. There were quite a few of us that day, so we emptied the whole bottle.
Egg soup
A clever dish.
Shrimp and mushroom pancake
Every bit as good as the seafood and chive pancake.
Spicy whelk salad and grilled Spam
It would feel wrong not to order it..
Fish cake soup
Finishing off with something soupy..
Grapes
They even brought out dessert.
A really nice place for a drink with simple Korean dishes. I would love to go often, but they told me they are moving next year. Wherever they end up, I am sure they will do well~
