Sambaekjip, a Kongnamul Gukbap Specialist in Garosu-gil

Sambaekjip is the famous kongnamul gukbap (bean sprout soup with rice) place from Jeonju. It even appeared in the comic Sikgaek. The Sinsa-dong branch has been open for a while now, but nobody around me likes kongnamul gukbap, so I waited for a chance and finally went on my own.

Side dishes

They give you a fried egg and seaweed, which made me so happy. Kongnamul gukbap just is not right without them.

The Sajangnim (Boss) Gukbap

It has a lot more ingredients than the regular gukbap, and there is an egg in the soup too. When I eat kongnamul gukbap I need two eggs to feel full, and here you get two as standard without ordering extra, which I really liked. The broth itself was clear and refreshing. They have other dishes and moju as well, so it should work fine for a group.

As Garosu-gil kept expanding, I hated how many odd places catering to passing tourists popped up, but a place like this is always welcome. I think I will spend a while wandering around Garosu-gil looking for good restaurants.
