I thought I’d skip it this year, but one thing led to another and I ended up joining the barbecue. Endless thanks to the people who organized it.
Booze and supplies
Gatherings like this are usually a potluck where everyone chips in, but all I did was show up and eat well. I can only apologize.
Meats and sausages
Well… it’s just beautiful.
Charcoal
We use good-quality real hardwood charcoal. It would be far easier to just buy the compressed briquettes sold at the campground, but then you couldn’t bring out the flavor of the ingredients. It’s a group of people who go the extra mile for good food, which is what makes this kind of preparation possible.
Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey
It’s sweet, so mixed into a cocktail it tasted really good. Great value for the money, too.
Chorizo and cheese
Before firing up the barbecue, we enjoy a few simple appetizers. Both are so good!
Salad
The salad itself was nice, but the garlic dipping sauce was delicious. So I made a point of photographing the jar.
It was roughly this kind of garlic sauce.
Delicious ingredients keep pouring in.
Tomatoes and onions are prepared too.
That more or less wrapped up the appetizers, and now we get down to eating in earnest.
Beef
It had been a while since I’d had hanwoo, and that day I ate my fill.
Sliced
The grilling skills were superb, practically professional.
Meat again
Meat is the truth.
French sausages
I was told they’d bought these French sausages from francegourmet, and that they’re a kind widely eaten in France. Good to know about such a great place.
Grilled
A French member grilled them himself, and they were delicious.
Pork
What a lovely color.
Grilled
Just a light sprinkle of salt and that flavor…
Marinated pork
The owner of Miro Sikdang marinated it himself, brought it along, and even grilled it for us. Thank you so much for all the work.
Grilled
Completely addictive. Who knew it would be this good!
Dishes cooking off to the side
With the ingredients people brought, we made some dishes besides the meat to go with the drinks.
Leek calçots
We tried this and that, too.
Hawaiian macadamias for dessert
Macadamias from Hawaii were donated for dessert.
And to finish, a birthday celebration…
One of the members had a birthday, so we put together something simple. I forget how old they turned, but anyway, happy birthday! I can’t remember whether or not we did the birthday punches.
And so this year’s spring barbecue came to a hearty end.
