A chocolate shop and cafe called Max Brenner has opened in Tokyo. There are already so many chocolate cafes around that I wondered whether it really needed importing, but once I went myself, the atmosphere and the menu were clearly different from anywhere else. It is a fun concept, so if you like chocolate it is worth dropping by.
The front entrance
It is near the main entrance of the Skytree, and the shop is pretty spacious. The main branch is in Omotesando, apparently.

Caramelized pecans rolled in hazelnut cream and dusted with cocoa powder. Pricey, but addictive.

Inside the cafe
The atmosphere is definitely different from a conventional chocolate shop. Casual and stylish in mood, but serious about the flavor, I suppose you could say.

I took it to go. Rich, intense chocolate flavor.

I bought a chocolate pizza too.
This is what it looks like..
It is piled high with marshmallows. It tastes a little like a crepe, and it was so much better than I expected that it surprised me. It is very sweet to begin with, and the chocolate drips everywhere, which makes it awkward to eat, but even so it is worth buying once.
Even for someone like me who is not much of a fan of chain stores, it was a very satisfying chocolate cafe. A place I would like to go back to.
