From the second day after we arrived in Okinawa, my travel companion came down with a cold and was out of action. That meant a big reshuffle of the itinerary. So here are some photos I took while just wandering around here and there.
Festival scene on Kokusai-dori
They were holding a giant tug-of-war festival (the Naha Great Tug-of-War), and quite a crowd had gathered.
Taco rice roll from a convenience store
There was no time for a proper meal, so I went into a convenience store, and they were selling taco rice rolls. Turns out it is a pretty addictive taste.
An Okinawa soba place on the way to Churaumi Aquarium: Motobu Soba
Not a very tasty place. I wish I had done some research beforehand, but there was no time for that at all. I was the one driving, so I had no time to hunt for good restaurants along the way either.
Kokusai-dori at night
By around 9 pm things are winding down. Still pretty flashy, though.
Blue Seal ice cream
It has a reputation for being good, so I gave it a try, and the chinsuko ice cream really was tasty.
Trying some sata andagi from the home turf, too.
Tastes like a doughnut. The Okinawa antenna shop in Ginza sells freshly fried sata andagi, and I have a feeling theirs is actually a bit better.

They close early, so I ended up going back later.
Mikasa, a diner I had not visited in ages
Still seems to be doing well. It is such a cheap place, after all.
Tofu chanpuru
The portion was huge. I used to be so impressed by the taste, but now it is just so-so.
Market scene on Ichiba Hondori
It was packed with tourists.

Maybe it is the tourist-spot pricing, but it was not all that cheap..
Tacos at Charlie’s Tacos
I tried them once, and for all the fame they are pretty ordinary. I should look into whether there are other options on Kokusai-dori.
