For a while eating cake was my hobby, but posting them one by one is a hassle, so here they all are in one go. These days I have put on a lot of weight, so I am holding back. ㅠ.ㅜ

Cakes from Pierre Hermé

High-level cakes, but they did not leave much of an impression. Something as intense as the Ispahan seems to show up only once in a while.

Pierre Hermé cakes I bought the next time

I bought these on a hot day, and both were refreshing. The one on the left is the Mosaïc, and the one on the right is the cake with wasabi. The wasabi was cooling and certainly unusual, and the first bite is fresh and zingy, but the aftertaste was terribly bitter, so not great. The Mosaïc is a series of cakes using cherry and pistachio, and it was so good it surprised me. It looks gorgeous too, of course. It made me want to try the other cakes in the Mosaïc series when I get the chance.

KITTE

A new landmark called KITTE opened near Tokyo Station, and when I went, I found Gozaemon-zushi, the famous bo-zushi (pressed sushi) shop from Tottori. The other shops did not seem all that special to me. It is nice that shops with some new concept keep popping up one after another, but lately I have gotten lazy and rarely go check them out.

Dassai Sparkling

I went over to a friend’s place and they brought out this sake. The taste was not as good as I expected.

Hakkaisan Kijoshu

It is sake brewed with sake in place of water to raise the alcohol and the sweetness, and it is sweet and easy to drink casually. The price is low too, which I liked.

Échiré butter cake

It is a limited item, and I would never finish a whole one by myself, so it is a cake I normally would not even consider, but with a bunch of friends getting together I gave it a try. Which meant lining up at 10 in the morning to buy it, keeping it in the fridge and carrying it over in the evening..

The butter flavour was killer. Besides the big cake, Échiré also has small individual cakes of a slightly different kind, and they taste more or less the same. This one is closer to the pure taste of butter, though. Or should I say it is basically a block of butter.. Now that I have experienced this extreme once, I think the small individual cakes will be plenty satisfying from now on.
