I heard a rumor that Pyonpyonsha, a naengmyeon place at Tokyo Skytree, has its roots in Pyongyang naengmyeon, so I went to check it out. Hmm.. it turned out to be a huge disappointment, though. T.T
The table
Maybe because of the Skytree crowds, you have no seat if you don’t get there early. Still, Pyonpyonsha had the shortest line of the bunch.
Ishiyaki bibimbap
Very ordinary. Bibimbap isn’t the main event here, so I just let it go.
Jajamen
They had something called jajamen, so I ordered it, but it’s a completely different thing from Korean jjajangmyeon. The taste wasn’t great either.
Naengmyeon
The broth is more or less Pyongyang naengmyeon style, but the noodles aren’t buckwheat, they’re chewy jjolmyeon-style noodles.. Very disappointing. Is eating good naengmyeon in Tokyo nothing but a dream..
