Someone just back from Paris brought along some cheese, so we had a casual meetup at 2chef.
Bread first
We picked up a pain de campagne from Paul & Paulina and asked them to serve it for us. I think this every time, but the bread from that bakery is really good. I only brought half a loaf, and a full one would have been just as welcome.
Rosé sparkling wine
A wine called Mas Monistrol, and it was pretty good for the price.
Antipasto
The shrimp had a lovely snap to it. The food here seems to have gotten even better lately.
Grilled cockles
Maybe it is because the weather is still chilly, but seafood tastes so good right now. I need to eat my fill before it gets hot.
Pasta
As I remember it, the pasta was loaded with cheese, and it tasted good too.
Steak
I do feel like I eat this a bit too often, but it is always good, so no complaints.
Today’s main event, the cheese
The gooey cheese in the middle is Mont d’Or. It is not an easy cheese to get hold of, so I had resigned myself to eating it just once this winter, but somehow a second chance came around ^_^ Grateful to whoever went to the trouble of carrying it all the way from France, I ate my share and then some.
