Yeontabal, a Gopchang Place in Apgujeong, and It’s Crispy Bakery!

I met up with a friend around Gangnam, and neither of us could think of anywhere in particular to go. I said I wanted gopchang, so we ended up at Yeontabal, where parking is easy.

The table setting

I had the ISO set wrong, so the photos are a mess.

Side dishes like these

come out. Pretty ordinary..

The grill

Nothing wrong with it.

Daechang (large intestine)

I wanted Korean-style gopchang, but they don’t serve that here, so I had no choice but to order daechang, and it’s ridiculously expensive. I think this little bit was worth 60,000 won..

Once it’s grilled, it goes like this..

It shrinks. The horumon-yaki they sell in Japan is all like this, and here I am paying more for it than I would in Japan..

Doenjang

Your standard doenjang jjigae.

All cooked now.

It shrank a whole lot. It’s not bad, but it’s annoyingly expensive.. I don’t think I’ll be back..

Yangnyeom galbi

We ordered it because the daechang alone wasn’t enough, and this wasn’t exactly cheap either.

All grilled..

Very poor value for money. If I had to sum this place up in one line.. Sorry, my friend..

Only go if you have money to burn and absolutely must have daechang..

The bakery we dropped by next, It’s Crispy!

I’d heard their European-style bread was good, so we came by, but it was just so-so.

Bread

I think a croissant should be crisp enough that the outside shatters, and hard bread should be hard enough to hurt your teeth, but by my standards these fell well short.. Maybe it’s because they’re Korean-style.
