Yakiniku Tenryu in Matsue

I’m back home after a whirlwind trip to Korea, but what was waiting for me was a mountain of work and a string of drinking sessions. Life’s pretty much the same wherever you go, I guess. Oh well…

Beer – draft (nama biru)

yakiniku tenryu

Kicking things off with a beer..

Yukhoe (beef tartare)

yakiniku tenryu

It was a little too frozen.

Liver

yakiniku tenryu

You dip it in sesame oil, and it’s nutty and clean-tasting, really delicious. No fishy taste at all; if anything it’s almost refreshing.

Rosu (loin)

yakiniku tenryu

It’s a pricey cut, but apparently there’s an even tastier jo-rosu (premium loin).. it’s over budget though, so I’ll settle for this.

Horumon

yakiniku tenryu

It’s the Japanese take on gopchang (grilled offal).. personally I think the Korean style is better. Plus this place isn’t even a specialist..

Iberico pork

yakiniku tenryu

You can probably guess from the white fat. It does melt in your mouth, but I’ve already been spoiled by wild boar, so it doesn’t even register for me.

Galbi (kalbi)

yakiniku tenryu

This one’s just a snack to go with the drinks.. come to think of it, I didn’t eat any vegetables that day. Ahem..

Drank until 1 a.m. again that night before heading home. Office life is one long stretch of exhaustion.
