After going all out on the first day, I woke up in the morning feeling absolutely terrible. I’ve been doing strength training lately and eating a high-protein diet, so after pouring that much alcohol down the day before, trouble was inevitable. Still in a daze, I somehow managed to head out in time for my appointment.
Samgyetang, which I ended up having somehow
The chicken looked like it had been on a bit of a diet ^_^ The taste was fine, but the broth was a little thin. I was told this was actually on the rich side, so it’s probably just that I haven’t had proper samgyetang in a long time.
After lunch I dropped by a place called Wonhyoro Coffee for a bit. It’s supposed to be a café with great coffee, but since I can’t drink coffee I wouldn’t know. The interior was cute and cozy, though. I really hope small neighborhood shops with a concept like this do well. The tomato juice I ordered instead of coffee was delicious.
In the evening I went with my university friends to a place called Yetgol Toseong near Gwacheon. It was absolutely packed.
Assorted duck platter
Cheap, big portions, and generous. Tastes good too. I guess that’s why it’s so popular.
You put it on the grill like this and cook it.
It’s already been cooked once, so it only needs a little heat before you can eat it.
Yeolmu (young radish greens) noodles to finish
The noodles were just so-so. As a hangover soup it wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything special either. I wish they’d had naengmyeon..
After a quick meal, we had a drink at a bar on the Garosu-gil near Yangjaecheon (not the one in Sinsa-dong). I’m glad everyone seems to be doing well. I’m thinking of making more chances to come back to Korea from now on. I’ve been reflecting a bit on how much I’ve been running around abroad all this time. If I’m in Korea, I’ll have more chances to go around to good restaurants, so I think my blogging might get a bit more active than it is now. That said, don’t expect too much..
