When I woke up on day two, it was drizzling. My friend and I had planned to head out to the beach that day, so, well… It wasn’t pouring yet, so we set off anyway.
The view from Osaka’s Bayshore Route
The scenery along this expressway is near-future, like RoboCop could jump out at any moment. There are bridges so high it feels like you’re flying through the sky; any way you look at it, it’s one of the best views around. These were taken when we stopped at a service area along the way, so they can’t really get the feeling across.
The scenery…
Pretty dark, huh.
We got to Suma Beach, but finding a parking lot was really tricky. And then it suddenly started pouring. So we pulled out ten minutes after arriving… Ah, I guess this is how this year’s summer ends.
Roughly the vibe
It’s on the small side…
The drive back on the expressway was really rough. The rain was coming down so hard you could barely see ahead. We kept stopping and going, and by the time we got near home the rain had cleared and a sunset was spreading across the sky. It may have been the best thing about this whole trip.
I got out to take this one along the way, but it came out really badly…
I held the camera in one hand while driving and just kept hitting the shutter.
So the horizon’s crooked and the composition is a mess.
These shabby shots were all I managed to get…
It’s a shame I can’t convey the emotion I felt, a spectacle greater than any movie.
It was every bit as good as Osaka’s Bayshore Expressway.
