About three to four hours by car from Hanoi lies Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Apparently it’s famous for its stunning scenery. When I actually went, though, it didn’t look all that polished, maybe because of the weather. Eight hours round trip on a bus was rough, and I don’t think it was worth it.

To really take it in, you have to head out onto the water. The boats were set up so you could eat and drink on board.

There are countless boats like these floating around, and the water isn’t clean either, so even though the islands are pretty, they didn’t move me much. They really need to take better care of the natural scenery.
