About 10 km from central Takamatsu is the filming location of “Crying Out Love, in the Center of the World” (Sekai no Chushin de, Ai wo Sakebu). I really enjoyed that movie, so I went to have a look.
The harbor
The mountains around Sanuki have such a distinctive shape. I think I’d recognize them at a glance in any movie.
The calm harbor
At first glance it’s an ordinary harbor, but it has a certain unique charm.
The breakwater.
This is the breakwater where Saku and Aki often met. Thinking that Masami Nagasawa walked this very path, I was quite moved.

The swing.
It was covered with padlocks where couples had pledged their love. Some of them had rusted, so if you’re going to hang one somewhere like this, you’d better buy a sturdy, rust-proof lock. The view from around this swing was really nice. You can see the whole harbor and breakwater at once. Somehow it felt nostalgic, like a place I’d visited a long time ago. No wonder they picked it as a filming location.
