Brasilia near Samseong Station

This post was written in 2007. Shop details and prices may have changed since then.

In February I went with friends to Brasilia near Samseong Station. It’s near Samseong Station, and it’s famous for unlimited steak for 25,000 won. (Whoa… what an amazing place…)
I didn’t manage to get a shot of the sign. It’s tucked away in an alley, so the location is a bit awkward. It’s actually closer to the POSCO intersection than to Samseong Station. It’s in a basement down an alley that feels like a residential street. The interior and atmosphere don’t match a proper steakhouse, but for a meat joint ^_^ it’s not bad. That said, there are no windows, so it felt a little stuffy.
Here’s the steak in question, with unlimited refills.

Here's the steak in question, with unlimited refills.

The steaks are really big and come in a variety of cuts – but they all taste about the same. The meat is mid-grade and comes out well done ^_^; We each had five refills. We didn’t exactly arrive late, and we hung on until closing time and managed five refills, so even if it’s nominally unlimited, I think that plus maybe one or two more pieces is probably the realistic maximum. Five steaks that size would make an ordinary person burst ^_^ but my body is well trained, so it felt like just the right amount.

If I remember right, this was unlimited refills too. As you can see, it tasted pretty ordinary. You also get fried rice and side dishes that are just as ordinary, but they didn’t impress me, so I skipped the photos. There seems to be dessert too, but we were so busy eating steak that we ran out of time and never got to it.
Drinks aren’t included in the 25,000 won. Order something like a bottle of Montes Alpha and it’ll probably come to around 30,000 to 35,000 won per person.. We know the owner, so we drank wine we brought without paying corkage, but if you just go on the strength of the buzz, you might go a bit over budget.
Judging by the overall atmosphere and price range, I’d say this place’s real competition is family restaurants like Outback or VIPS. It beats family restaurants on value for money, but since there’s basically only one thing on the menu, it might be hard to go often. The service isn’t bad, but as with all these all-you-can-eat places, you have to wait a bit whenever you order something. If you’re having a casual get-together with friends or family around Gangnam, I’d definitely recommend it, but unless the girl you’re trying to win over really loves carving meat, it’s not quite the setting for making your move.
I’ve written up the food we brought ourselves separately.

Taste? Need I say more, it’s the best^_^; Just avoid pairing it with red wine.

Even though it’s the cheapest Torbreck, it was good. Despite being a young vintage, it was smooth yet rich.
Today’s wine 2. Beaujolais Morgon 2003

Today's wine 2. Beaujolais Morgon 2003

This was my pick. It didn’t go with steak, but I’d bought the wine before we picked the restaurant -_-;; Among Beaujolais-Villages wines, this Morgon is about the only one that can age for a long time, but this time it was a bit weak. It tasted rough and muddy. It’s supposed to have a sweet, light flavor like strawberry juice. (Actually, since the Gamay grape itself isn’t really made for long aging, maybe I should have bought as young a vintage as possible.)
