The Marunouchi Building at Tokyo Station, a mix of shopping mall and restaurants, is packed with branches of some of Japan’s best-known restaurants.
Places like Isola and Ristorante HiRo… This time a younger friend of mine came to visit, so we went to Uogashi Zushi, a sushi place with a reputation
for being pretty good that I’d been dying to try.

Japanese draft beer and the little starter dish. I probably don’t need to tell you, but Japanese draft beer is ice-cold and goes down beautifully. It’s 600 yen a glass, but…
it’s worth every yen. The starter was pretty good too…
The 3,000-yen sashimi set “Fuji.” Well… it’s generous. ^_^; I really liked the freshness too. The in-season yellowtail was great…
and the horse mackerel and tuna were excellent too.
The 4,800-yen “Gokai” (hearty) sushi set. I think finishing one of these on your own would be really tough.
The fish wasn’t top-tier fresh, but it was still very enjoyable. This set doesn’t include otoro, though. -_-;;
Miso soup with a whole crab in it. They call it kanijiru. The best miso soup I’ve ever had. ^_^
Since the otoro was left out, we ordered it separately. Look at the thickness… that’s some serious heft. The taste? Well… it just melts…
But I felt it didn’t quite go with the rice as well as it could have…
After dinner we cut through the luxury-brand streets nearby to Ginza. But hardly any bars were open around 10…
So we went into the ever-reliable Ginza Lion.
Their Yebisu draft was fantastic, but the snacks were just so-so…
