Here’s a mixed bag of things.
Oil sardines and corned beef
I went to KOmart and was shocked at how cheap these were. I guess there are certain times when they go on sale.
Nagahama, Hakushu and more
I stopped by an upscale supermarket and they had all sorts of whiskies.
All kinds of whiskies
Funny how different a supermarket gets once it’s upscale.
Hayashi rice with Japanese beef
It looked good so I bought one, and it really is delicious. They do it well..
Frozen pizza
When the supermarket’s this good, even the frozen pizza looks tasty.
ABE’s gyoza
These are frozen gyoza, but the wrappers are thick and they’re packed with filling.
The supermarket on typhoon day
A big typhoon was on its way, so I went to grab some side dishes, but there was nothing left. Everyone was quick..
The “Kin no Tsukemen” (Gold Tsukemen) series
7-Eleven came out with something fun, so I snapped a photo. The idea is that the noodles, soup and so on are sold separately, and if you collect them all you get Tomita’s tsukemen. Looks tasty, but who knows when I’ll actually get around to eating it.
Shin Ramyun Rosé
So this is a thing now.
Premium Ghana
It was just okay.
Budo no Yama (“Grape Mountain”)
It’s a local bread with raisins in it, and it was good.
Cook Mart’s shokupan
This one’s good too. The slices are thick, so it’s great as is and great toasted.
Amahagan sherry cask blend highball.
Nagahama Distillery put out a fun highball. The sherry cask whisky dominates, but since it’s a blend the finish is a bit heavy and the aftertaste short. Good value, and a cheerful, easygoing drink.. Way better than the previous Mont-Pérat (Drops of God) edition..
Kin-chan Ramen tantanmen
The tantanmen has plenty of sesame and tastes like the real deal. The kind of flavor I could eat often.
Kin-chan yakisoba
The yakisoba itself is tasty, but I can’t see what sets it apart from Peyoung.. That’s just because the existing yakisoba are so good, so it can’t be helped.
