Ever since Culinary Class Wars became a huge hit, you can’t get into Myeon Seoul without waiting in line. But I heard there was a place at the Express Bus Terminal where you can eat the noodles from that show without the fuss, so off I went.
Seoyeon
Around 3pm you can order, wait just a little, and get in. Easy to reach, so it passes on that count alone.
Drinks
They sell all sorts of things..
The menu
There are a few things on the menu, and I just went with the safest pick, the goldong bibim-myeon. You’d have to come with 2-3 people to try one of each..
Goldong bibim-myeon set
I ate very well. The broad, clean-tasting noodles had a soft springiness, a completely original texture unlike Chinese biang biang noodles or Japanese udon or kishimen, and the way they came together with all the wild mountain greens and the perilla oil, I thought, ah, this is the kind of Korean flavor Michelin is after.. The suyuk was cooked just right, and the broth was rich too.. the price is a bit steep, but it was worth what it cost.. I suppose you have to be this modern to win good reviews from a lot of people.
Seoyeon
There’s a space next door where you can sit and eat, but sometimes every seat is taken, so you have to grab one quickly..
Sugar Butter Tree
So this has landed in Korea.. that’s something.. I guess it means Koreans’ buying power has risen that much.
Pierre Hermé
Pierre Hermé has officially arrived. It felt novel, so I took a photo..
