Abondance: A French Dessert Shop in Hamamatsu

There’s a dessert shop in Hamamatsu run by a chef from France.

Decor

For a few reasons, I didn’t get a chance to snap a photo of the entrance. Anyway, it’s very cute. It’s even listed as a top-rated spot on Tabelog.

Some of the desserts

These are much cuter and more detailed in person than they look in photos.

Some of the desserts

They really are beautiful…

Some of the desserts

They’re crafted so delicately. The chef is a typical Frenchman; despite being older, he comes out in full chef’s attire and cracks jokes in Japanese. He has such a unique personality. I think that’s part of why the place is so popular.

The case

The design is very sophisticated.

The cakes

They’re so beautiful that I’d believe it if someone told me they were bought from Isetan.

Close-up 1

The desserts have complex and delicate layers. They feel similar to cakes you’d find in a hotel lounge, and the chef did mention he has a background in hotels.

Close-up 2

Being able to eat desserts of this caliber really boosts your quality of life. It makes me feel like Japan is a great place to live, even in the countryside.
