I’d have to say Yamamoto-tei is the best spot in the neighborhood. Since this area is a tourist destination, it’s only natural that there’s a “famous” local restaurant, but this place goes way beyond that level.
Basic setting
Simple.
A drink
They have plenty of delicious drinks.
Today’s sashimi
The ingredients were prepared so perfectly.
Shrimp salad
This was surprisingly tasty… it’s a great side for drinks.
Crab salad
This one was delicious too.
Today’s special menu
This is the beauty of a seasonal izakaya. You can just order whatever looks tempting.
Shrimp tempura
This is seriously delicious. The ultimate drinking snack.
Oyster tempura
It’s winter, so you’ve gotta have these.
Tonkatsu
They have options like this, not just seafood. It’s great to have a variety of dishes when visiting in a group.
Unaju
If you’re at Lake Hamana, you have to try the eel. It was truly delicious.
Kisu (Sillago) tempura
It’s a light, clean-tasting fish, but it’s amazing when fried.
Tempura
Tastes great.
Tako (Octopus)
I ordered this because we needed something refreshing, and it was a great choice.
Kinmedai Nitsuke
For seasonal Kinmedai, Nitsuke (simmered) is definitely the best way to eat it.
Kakikaba-don
This is oyster grilled with unagi sauce. The seasoning is quite strong, so you don’t taste the oyster itself much, but it paired perfectly with the thinly sliced fresh onions served on the side. I didn’t know these two would match so well.
Miso soup
Even the soup was delicious. It was a wonderful gathering.
