Yamamototei has to be called the best place to eat in this town. It is a tourist spot, so having one good tourist-spot restaurant is only natural, but this place goes well beyond that level.
The basic setting
Simple.
A drink
They have a lot of good sake.
Today’s sashimi
The prep work on the ingredients was really well done.
Shrimp salad
This was unexpectedly tasty.. it works well with drinks too.
Crab salad
This one was really good as well.
Today’s special menu
This is the good thing about an izakaya that cooks with the season. You get to order whatever you feel like.
Fried shrimp
This one is seriously good. Perfect with a drink.
Fried oysters
It is winter, so you have to have them.
Tonkatsu
It is not all seafood, they have dishes like this too. When you come as a group it helps to have a wide menu.
Unaju
If you have come all the way to Lake Hamana you have to eat eel. Seriously good..
Kisu tempura
It is a light, delicate fish, but deep-fried it is incredibly good.
Tempura
Tasty.
Octopus
Someone said we needed something refreshing so we ordered it, and it was a good call.
Simmered kinmedai
For kinmedai in season, simmered really is the tastiest way.
Kaki kaba-don
What this is, is oysters brushed with eel sauce and grilled. The seasoning is strong so you cannot really taste the oyster, but it went so well with the thinly sliced fresh onion that came with it. Who knew that combination would work.
Miso soup
Even this came out delicious. It was a fun gathering.
