L’atelier Tempo is a bakery… up on a mountain. It sits halfway up a hillside, in the kind of spot where you wonder what on earth could be out here, as a bakery and cafe in one.
A place like this
Even with the navi on, it was a confusing spot to find.
The view spread out in front of me
I was slightly worried a bear might show up…
A place like this…
I can’t help but marvel at what kind of people would think of opening a shop somewhere like this… Though maybe because it’s so remote, they occasionally do collaborations in the city.
The back
There’s a cafe space too.
This is the tarte tatin
I tried it, but it was just so-so, less than I expected. It probably would have been better chilled further in the fridge…
Meal bread
I think it was a margherita; it’s a bread with cheese and tomato, so it makes a nice snack.
Mountain scenery
Living a life baking bread deep in the mountains like this looks pretty good. Of course, it’s only possible because they have the skills to match.
Focaccia and breads
The quality is great, of course, but this place has a character all its own. Something natural about it, I’d say. It’s bread you can’t eat unless you make the trip out here on purpose.
Donuts
Fermented donuts are popular these days, but this place feels like it walks the classic path.

Baguette naturel
The bread is truly a work of art. It looks beautiful, but the aroma and flavor are superb too. I have no idea how they express such a feeling of nature through bread.
Donut close-up
It was so delicious. To my taste, it was even better than I’m donut?. It’s not cheap, but it was well worth climbing up the mountain for.
