Saengtae Sarang in Seolleung

I heard there was a place in Seolleung that does good ganjang gejang (soy-marinated raw crab), so I went to check it out.

The place

Saengtae sarang.

The kind of atmosphere middle-aged guys would love.

This is what it looks like.

I had no idea tofu came with it too. There’s plenty to eat.

The crab is a bit on the small side. But the set menu is cheap at around 22,000 won, so you have to factor that in. And considering this is what you get for a single serving, the portion isn’t small either.

You can mix rice into the shell and enjoy it that way. There are plenty of other seafood dishes on the menu too. As always with ganjang gejang, the payoff feels small relative to the work of eating it, which is a bit of a shame, and the small crab makes that feeling stronger. That said, it’s not like you can easily go eat a bigger gejang on your own. If you want to eat gejang solo, I don’t think there’s anywhere better than this place.
