Yoyogi-Uehara is a little way off from Yoyogi-Hachiman, but you could pretty much call them next door to each other. I’d heard there was a well-known bagel shop in Uehara, so I went.
It’s a small place in a semi-basement, run by a husband-and-wife team.
It felt like a place that runs on its regulars… and the bread seemed geared toward the regulars too…
These are the bagels they sell.
One look and you can tell it’s nothing like Tecona’s chewy style. I’d call it the soft style. I suppose it’s because the styles are so different that the two can coexist.
Bagel
As you can see, it’s the fluffy style. Seemed like it’d be good as a meal bagel.
Onion bagel
People around here are lucky to have so many good bakeries. Levain’s in this neighborhood too, after all.
