I’d known for ages that Taimeiken, the yoshoku (Western-style) restaurant in Nihonbashi, serves a good shoyu ramen, but what actually got me to go was seeing it in Ms. Koizumi Loves Ramen Noodles. It’s a bit of a trek, so I picked a day and made the trip.
Shoyu ramen
It’s a rich-tasting shoyu ramen, tasty in a classic, standard way. The menma and the chashu were top-notch too.
Noodles
But I’d tasted this somewhere before. My first visit, and yet not really a first. Where, you ask? Tokyo Ramen Tower in Hamamatsucho. That place doesn’t plate it quite this neatly, but you can have it with curly noodles there too, and they offer plenty of variations. I guess this is the kind of thing that happens with old ramen shops.
