I set out to finally try Près de moi, and when I looked it up on KakaoMap nothing had changed, but it turned out they had moved not long ago. So I ended up taking a bit of a detour. A bit of a struggle in the heat.. It would be nice if the map location got updated smoothly or automatically when a place moves, but KakaoMap does not seem to go that far.. In that respect Tabelog really is the best..
Pyongyang Myeonok
I spotted it while passing by; they have opened in Dosan too. No idea which branch of the family it belongs to, but if business is good, word will get around.
Près de moi
Compared with the old bakery cafe, well.. there is no comparison, really.. it has been transformed into something completely stylish. Please forget the past..
The menu
Sandwiches are the main thing, and there is a wide range of menu items.
Breads
The prices are a bit steep, but there were lots of tasty-looking breads.
Breads
There seem to be a lot of breads meant for sandwiches.
Inside
It is enormous. A big bread factory, you could say.. I suspect orders went up after they appeared on Cheonha Jeppang. TV really does have a lot of power.
Inside
The cafe is neat and tidy too.
The view outside
The interior is lovely.
Original Reuben sandwich
Since it was my first visit, I ordered the menu item that everything else is built on.
A glass of milk too
A beer would have been nice as well, but I had something scheduled afterwards, so milk it was..
Pastrami
Crisp toasted bread topped with rich Emmental cheese and corned beef. Each ingredient is delicious on its own, but the combination was out of this world. The toasting of the bread is a work of art, and I am sure it would never taste like this as takeout. It is a complete dish, close to fine dining. At this level, I doubt you could eat anything similar unless you were ordering hotel room service.
The fries were salty in a way that calls for a beer, and it was a bit of a shame that I had to eat them beer-less.
The bread bag
Pretty.
The bread I took home..
It was tasty, but not as moving as the sandwich.. I will have to go back for a sandwich again some time.
What You Talk About When You Talk About Haruki Murakami
I found this while walking around the neighborhood. Haruki still has that kind of influence.. it felt a little surreal..
