Yeomyeong, a Chinese Restaurant in Dohwa-dong, Mapo

I left the house on the weekend thinking I’d go for a walk, and ended up at Gongdeok Station. Those of you who know the area will already know this, but the old Gyeongui Line tracks have been turned into a park and the neighbourhood has changed a lot. Before Fritz opened, I don’t think there was anything there besides bars and raw-fish places, but in the last few years it’s been completely reborn.

I got to Gongdeok Station around noon and had lunch at Yeomyeong, which is now open on Saturdays and closed on Sundays. I usually go out on Saturdays and rest at home on Sundays, so the change of closing day is very welcome.

The ingredients are good. It’s a mild flavour, but a mustard sauce comes on the side too. I ate it as it was.

All mixed up

The lady running the place mixed it for us herself.

Fried dumplings

It just wouldn’t feel right without them..

The hours may have changed, but the taste is as excellent as ever.

I kept it to a light warm-up and got up. Having come all the way to Gongdeok, there were plenty of places I wanted to check out.
