As everyone knows, Yeonnam-dong has plenty of good places, and which one you end up at seems to come down to taste. Sicily is delicious, but with nobody to go drink soju with, I only ever walk past without going in. There are lots of other tempting spots too, yet I keep ending up at Pyeonuibang—probably because the vibe and the food are just my style.

Today’s whisky: Kilchoman
There are seven distilleries in the UK that still do traditional floor malting, and Kilchoman is one of them. “100% Islay” means both the barley and the peat came from Islay. Lately, 100% Islay whiskies have been showing up on the market little by little—Octomore was 100% Islay too. Kilchoman is a fairly new distillery, so most of what’s out now is five or six years old, yet it still had a deep, well-matured flavor. A really captivating whisky. I’m looking forward to seeing where they go from here.
