Angel’s Share Bar and Tomi’s Bakery Breads, Yeonnam-dong

This is a post from quite a while back, so the vibe is a bit different from Angel’s Share as it is now. Yeonnam-dong has changed a lot lately with the new park. I think I am about five months behind on posts, so I will put them up little by little. Really busy these days.

A glass of Aberlour

A decent whisky at a bar in Korea runs about 20,000 won a glass. A cheap, good-value whisky is around 10,000 won.. Judging by taste alone you would have to wonder whether it is worth that much money, but if the atmosphere is good I think it is well worth paying.

Today’s whiskies

Not many whiskies are officially imported into Korea, so pretty much any bar you go to has a similar lineup. That is a bit of a shame.

Rhubarb pie from Peace Piece

Properly tart. A massive upgrade compared to the first time I had it. I really enjoyed it that day, but the shop closed not long ago. A bit of a pity.

Strawberry shortcake from Peace Piece

This was good too.

Bread from Tomi’s Bakery

tomi's bakery

Bread I got as a gift. Tomi’s Bakery is a bakery in Yeonnam-dong where a Japanese baker makes Japanese-style bread. It was so good while I was eating that I could not even set things up properly and just took a rough shot.

Bread with fruit in it

Not sure of the name. Japanese-style bread seems to taste best eaten plain, whereas French bread tastes better with butter, jam, cheese or ham on the side. It looks ordinary, but it was so good once I tried it that I wolfed it down.

Every single loaf was delicious, which came as a real surprise. Who knew such a wonderful bakery was tucked away in a corner of Yeonnam-dong.
