Hommage, the popular French restaurant in Asakusa, is a place I visited a few years ago, and I had a fantastic meal back then too. They recently renovated and turned it into an even more stylish restaurant, so I decided to go back.
Bread
The balance is perfect. I have high hopes for the food.
Got to have a glass of wine too
The wine is not exactly cheap compared to the price of the course, but with food this good coming out, you cannot really skip it.
The menu
Olive oil
Starter
Foie gras and fig
Bread
Velouté of aged Hokkaido pumpkin, seared scallop with hazelnut mousse
They age the pumpkin for a long time before making it into a soup, and the flavour is exquisite. Their skill with ingredients is remarkable.
Aomori greenling (ainame)
The fish main, and the cooking on it is superb.
Straw-grilled Ibaraki imo-buta pork shoulder
You could smell the straw. The presentation was just wonderful.
The dish as actually served
It looks delicious, and the plate is beautiful too. It reminded me for a moment of La Bête, a place I went to not long ago.
The bread is tasty as well.
If the cheapest course is this good, the pricier courses must be very satisfying indeed.
Palate cleanser
Dessert
So cute!
Herbal tea
Petits fours
In terms of value for money, this is one of the best French restaurants in Tokyo. I was really lucky that a cancellation opened up a seat this time. Next time I think I could go for a slightly pricier course.
