I finally went to an izakaya I had only heard rumors about. It is a place called Tokudawara, and the line was already long an hour before opening..

It was a bit boring, but I had Puzzle & Dragons, so killing time was not hard. I was running the iOS 7 beta at the time, and the photo quality was really bad. I am sure it will not be like this once the final version is out.

Whelks

Everything on the menu is between 300 and 500 yen. In other words.. very cheap. The portions are on the small side, though. It seems like a good place for a light drink. Whether that is worth standing in line for an hour, though.. hmm..

Kinmedai

I ordered the sashimi and only got a few slices. It must be because the price is low and the fish is expensive. Perfect for someone who wants to try a little bit of many different things.

Wakasagi tempura

Nothing beats this as a snack with drinks. Fresh ingredients, deliciously fried. Being able to feel the season is probably the biggest strength of Japanese restaurants.

Boiled pork

This one was a bit pricier at around 500 yen, but the taste was just as good.

Unagi

It felt like tasting high-end ryotei cooking at a very low price. That must be why people line up like that.

Dashimaki

A place I would like to come back to in winter. In summer the supply of ingredients is bound to be a bit worse. It was a hassle, but worth going at least once.
