There are so many bakeries along the Hongjecheon that it is hard to get to them all, but this is one place I simply could not skip.

Weekend special: dark cherry chocolat

This one was seriously good. Maraschino cherries, almond cream, and chocolate on top of that.. what a perfect harmony.. the flavor felt refined, and I enjoyed every bite.. That kind of refinement is hard to copy even if you try.. which is exactly why it pays to know places like this.

Anyway.. if you go late there is not much bread left to buy, so I would recommend going early.. Compared to Olkeupaek, which is reservation-only and therefore hard to get into, I think this is a very realistic alternative.. With Olkeupaek you never know when you will actually make it there.. the reservation is one thing, but you also have to stand in a long line, so unless you clear a whole day it is rough.
