I tried to visit Heavy Bread once before, but the owner was out with an injury and the shop was closed, so I never made it. This time I heard he was safely back, so I went and had a look.

The taste isn’t bad at all, but this thing is so soft that I did wonder whether you can really call it a baguette.. If they’d just sold it as a chocolate bread shaped like a baguette, there’d have been nothing to be disappointed about..

The pick of the day

They’re breads pretty much anyone can happily eat. Something like the sourdough I love tends to have a more limited audience, after all..

Anyway, to sum up: the prices are a bit steep, but so is the amount of filling in the bread, the flavors are easy for anyone to get into, and there’s no need to be scared off by the word “heavy” – that’s the kind of bakery it was.
