Whenever I go to Japan after a while away, the supermarkets are full of new things, so I end up with plenty to post about.
Charumera wonton noodles
Nothing special, really..
Mochigome senbei
Honestly, they all taste so similar that I cannot tell which one is better..
Okoge senbei
Same goes for this one. There is a difference, but it is negligible.
Soft-boiled eggs
You can always buy them at the supermarket, and they are cheap too. You could make them in Korea and eat them as well, but the convenience is on another level.
Bonito
Even an ordinary neighborhood supermarket sells bonito this good.
Wolfgang whisky highball
It is cheap, and the taste is exactly what that price buys. I am not sure there was any need to put Wolfgang’s name on it.
Echigo-hime gummies
Just so-so, pretty ordinary.
Yakushima tankan gummies
It is a mandarin-flavored gummy, and you really can taste the mandarin.
Choco banana
They were selling frozen choco bananas, so I bought one, and it tastes fine.
Mentai cheese flavor potato chips
These were worth eating. Mentaiko is a cheat code.
Tokachi calpas
A cheap snack to go with drinks. It has a bit of a kick, and it seems to be made from pork or chicken with fat added in. It is cheap and tastes decent, so paired with a cup of sake it lets you drink on the cheap, I suppose..
Dinkel Grunkern
It is a rye bread, and it does not taste bad. There are a lot of grainy bits to chew on.
Local specialty dango
So this is how they sell dango here.
Choco Shu
I bought these because I heard they were good, and they really do taste great, but the portion is far too small. You would have to buy two bags.
Kin no Butter Chicken
This one was quite tasty.
Fettuccine Gummy
Maybe it is because it is Bourbon, but they go down easily.
Calpas
The ingredient list is really something.. a crystallization of food engineering. It makes you realize they will go this far to make something cheap and tasty.
Pure Gummy, plum flavor
Surprisingly good. The tartness makes it refreshing.
Mikkabi mikan gummies
They taste good, but I would not go out of my way for them..
Premium Roll Cake, 50% more
At this price it is worth eating.
Kabukiage
Apparently it is the best-selling fried rice cracker out there, and it is very ordinarily delicious.
Pocky, blueberry flavor
Tasty, but such a small portion..
Grape Pure Gummy
Nothing special.
Togouchi
They say it is floral, but I cannot really tell. It was just about drinkable.
Golden Balance umeshu
I liked this one so much that I drank it often, though other people said it was a bit on the sweet side. Even so, this level feels about right. It is an Aeon limited edition, and I doubt there is another bottle with this kind of value for money.
Isaina
Apparently it is the shochu highball everyone is talking about lately, but it did not do much for my palate..
