Nihondaira Yume Terrace: An Observatory in Shizuoka

I heard there’s an observatory with a great view of Mount Fuji, so I stopped by. Since I was going all-in on Mount Fuji today, I had to see everything there is to see.

The way up…

You have to walk up a bit after parking in the lot.

The line was so long that I couldn’t even get inside.

The vibe here

Yume terrace.

It’s very modern. And it’s a wonderful view where you can see not just Mount Fuji, but all the way to Shimizu Port and downtown Shizuoka.

The view toward Mount Fuji

This is the view from the place I visited this morning, but suddenly clouds rolled in and I couldn’t see Mount Fuji. I actually put three Mount Fuji spots on my schedule, and even though it was a clear day, I failed on the last one. It’s really a gamble.

Even without Mount Fuji, the scenery is still gorgeous.

It stretches all the way to downtown Shizuoka.

Beautiful.

The observatory view

It’s designed so you can walk in a full circle.

Anyway, it’s hard to visit without a car, but the scenery is truly great. However, it’s best to keep in mind that you need a bit of luck to actually see Mount Fuji.
