I came to Gapyeong for some business.
Whole-hog BBQ
This is what was waiting for us when we arrived.
The dock
It was dark so you can’t see much…
This gentleman was serving the food.
Everyone ate well.
A photo I took myself
It turns out he isn’t just a cook: he’s the head of a catering company and has appeared three times on the TV show Seomin Gapbu (“Ordinary Rich Folks”). A good talker, too… quite a character. From what I heard he’s doing very well, but when the time slot runs late he doesn’t like to make his staff do it, so he comes out himself. Everywhere you go, the owner of a small business does a bit of everything…
The meat
It was seriously delicious. They say one whole hog yields about 100 servings, and of course the first cuts you eat are the best, but beyond that the meat was so tender it felt a lot like pulled pork, and it was seasoned so well that once you dipped it in the sauce you just kept going. On top of that, a whole hog has real presence, so it seems perfect for a group gathering. If a similar get-together comes up later, I’ll have to order it.
Yamazaki 12 Year
Had it for the first time in a while, and it’s definitely a bit different from the old 12. Feels like less sherry and more bourbon… Still, for a 12-year-old this is not bad, and it has that Yamazaki character. But… if it were cheap I’d accept it; at this price, this taste is a bit…
Breakfast the next morning
A light meal.
Gapyeong scenery
Scenery
Water sports prices
There were plans like this too. I should remember it and maybe give it a try sometime…
