Turns out Shin-Osaka Station has gained quite a few nice new spots.
Mister Donut
Who knew there was a place like this underground..
Kushikatsu Daruma
Daruma is the place famous for its no-double-dipping rule. I never expected to find one in the underground shopping area inside the station.. I’d actually come to buy pork buns at 551 Horai, but I spotted this place and got in line.
Takeout counter
There are three takeout options: 8, 10, or 12 skewers. I went with 8 to start.
551 Horai
There’s a spot where they make them live. Had to buy these too.. The line was long, but I had time, so I managed to get some.
551 cold noodles, 551 ramen
Horai doesn’t just sell pork buns; they had a whole range of menu items.
Skewers from Kushikatsu Daruma
They’d cooled off a bit, but the outside was crispy and the inside was packed with meat, so they were fantastic with a drink. Next time I’ll go for the 12-piece set.
Bread from the France Pavilion
It got squashed on the way home, but it tasted fine.
Bread
This one was pretty good too.
Orange Road, spotted in passing
It has nothing to do with the Expo, but I threw it in anyway.
Myaku-Myaku snacks
Surprisingly tasty. They’re all collaborations with well-known brand-name companies, so they’re genuinely good.
Limited-edition snacks
Well.. these make perfectly fine souvenirs.
