I climbed up Haebangchon from the opposite side, went through Sinheung Market, and made my way to Roux Bake. Roux Bake got famous for its pumpkin rye bread (thanks to the celebrity Kang Min-kyung mentioning it), and as a rye bread hunter there was no way I could skip it.

Sourdough and hearty wholesome breads are the main thing here.

Just looking at them, these breads look incredibly good. But I thought it was pumpkin rye bread, and it turns out it is a pumpkin sourdough with no rye in it at all.

They really do sell bread that makes you feel healthier with every bite. Absolutely excellent. I have no idea how bakeries of this caliber keep popping up like mushrooms after rain.

Back then I was obsessed with rye bread so I did not buy the pumpkin sourdough, but these days I am not that obsessed with rye anymore, so I think it would be fine to go back and buy one. The problem, though, is that getting to this place means climbing that hill all over again, which takes some serious resolve.. I want to go again someday, but I have no idea when that will be..
