Cup oden
It’s the convenience store kind, so you can’t think too hard about value for money, but it’s an easy thing to eat.
Beniharuka sticks
These mostly used to come cut into rounds, but this time a stick version has shown up. The taste is about the same, but these are easier to eat.
Pumpernickel
This one tastes about the same as always.
Dessert
I got this cheap at the Ginza West factory shop, and it tastes pretty good.. Taking a chance like this to try something on the cheap seems like a good idea.
Yoshida udon
It’s the specialty udon from around Lake Kawaguchi, though I’ve never had it there.. Well, I’m sure it tastes like udon..
Kanazawa sweet shrimp
Nothing much, really..
Italian Bolognese Noodles
There’s a bit of heat to it and it’s fine to eat, but I’m not sure how Italian it is.
Shingen mochi
Rice cake coated in kuromitsu syrup and kinako – there’s no way that tastes bad. No wonder it’s so popular..
Pocky
This is the Pocky I like, so I buy a box every now and then..
Taiwan ramen
Pretty spicy. Good for when you’re craving something hot.
Bio Dinkel + Grünkern
This one is so-so as well..
The ramen where a small amount of noodles and a clean broth go just right
Eating it, I couldn’t really tell that there were fewer noodles, and it didn’t taste bad either..
Extra-rich corn potage
This sort of thing is surprisingly good, and there are corn kernels to chew on too.
Hyoketsu Kyoho Sparkling
This one didn’t taste great..
Charumera Shoyu
A standard soy sauce flavor, decent enough.
Abura to Niku (fat and meat)
There have been several attempts lately to recreate Jiro-style ramen at convenience stores.. Personally I find it a bit hard to bring myself to try one.
Spicy Charumera (Miyazaki karamen)
This one, though, is seriously spicy.. A completely different ramen from the standard Charumera..
Rum raisin cheese dessert
This one is good too.
Dolce corn I brought back from Yamanashi
It was incredibly sweet. I should have eaten it sooner – it had gone a bit wrinkly by the time I did – but the sweetness was top notch.
Tomato hot and sour soup
I prefer the regular hot and sour soup, but lately the tomato version seems to be all I can find..
Booze at the convenience store
These days they have Nikka Frontier and plenty of other good bottles. On the other hand, seeing it spread even to places like this makes me wonder whether the quality control is really keeping up.
Ichigen
It’s ebisoba, and the shrimp flavor is rich and good. Just the thing in winter. Lawson has been doing a really good job lately..
