A Trip to Paju in January 2025

What made me decide to head out to Paju this time was the news that the GTX-A line had opened.

It takes a while just to get down to the platform, but it turns out Paju is only 20 minutes away. You still have to get around once you are in Paju, of course, but for anyone living near the station, access to Seoul has improved enormously.

The platform

It is a bit far, but it is a fair trade. If this ever runs all the way through to Gangnam it would be a real game changer.

The area around the station is still developing fast.

The view

There are still plenty of wide-open empty lots.

Apartment blocks

I imagine they will just keep multiplying from here.

Snapped this on my way past.

Looks like a bit of a local institution.

I did not go in, but it looks like a dessert cafe.

This place was busy too, and it had the air of one of those long-standing Paju favorites.

Paju Book City

They seemed to be shooting a film or a drama. The streets are clean and there is nobody about, so I imagine it is a popular filming location.

Apartments and a parking lot

The parking lot next to the station is pretty big, which has to be good for people taking the GTX. The truth is that however good the GTX is, just getting yourself out to it takes a fair bit of time, so having parking sorted like this makes it much easier to use. It is a shame Cheongna does not really have facilities like this… Line 7 connecting through would be the best case, though…

Even out here, there is a cat…

There are apartments everywhere you look.
