I heard there was a bakery in Paju with a fun concept, so off I went.
A place like this
It’s called Hello Pumpkin Bakery, and apparently they make their bread with pumpkin as the main ingredient. Whatever people say about the big bakery cafes, when it comes to how the bread actually tastes, it’s hard to match the charm of a small bakery like this one.
Bread like this
Not everything has pumpkin in it, but their signature breads are all made with it.
The breads
They sell things like kabocha financiers. Nice touch, sticking a little pumpkin mark on everything that has pumpkin in it..
Kabocha chiffon
This was the best of everything I bought that day: just sweet enough, with a real pumpkin flavour, and lovely and fluffy. I could happily have taken a few more home, but there was only one left..
The breads
The rest is much like any ordinary bakery, but you can tell the pumpkin breads get special attention. I enjoyed every bite.
