I was up near Chuncheon, so I decided to try one of those rail bikes that everyone seems to be into these days.

This is roughly the atmosphere of the place. There were so many people that even booking a ticket wasn’t easy. Luckily we got to ride.

It’s a disused line that has been repurposed, and the scenery is really lovely.

You move it with what are basically bicycle pedals, so we went along adjusting the gap, trying not to get too close to or too far from the car in front.

They’ve put it together more entertainingly than I expected. Inside the tunnel there was club music playing and the lighting was flashy.

This is the kind of view you can’t really get from a car. There are plenty of rail bikes around Chuncheon, but this one seems to have the best scenery.

There is one catch, though: this rail bike course isn’t a round trip. Once you reach the end you take a bus back. Some rail bikes do run out and back, and those are a bit more convenient, but even so I think the scenery here is the better of the two.

We had a pretty fun time. To think there was a place like this right outside Chuncheon.. The line ended up being taken out of service, but seeing it put to use in all sorts of ways made me think that even with a falling birth rate, people will find ways to get through it.
