Place Mange is famous around here for making really good bread.

Place mange.

It sits back inside a side street, so parking is a bit of a challenge.. and apparently when the crowds show up you have to wait for a parking spot too..

There was still quite a lot of bread left on this day.

Paying up

I kept it fairly modest this time..

Pain suisse

Place mange.

These days there are plenty of places making pain suisse, but back around then it wasn’t all that common. This was the first time I’d seen one, so I bought it, and while it was tasty I think I still prefer pain au chocolat. It’s a shame I didn’t store it well and it got a little battered; I imagine it would have been much better straight out of the oven.

Having a good bakery nearby really does lift your quality of life a lot.
