Goryangjugwan, a Chinese restaurant in Jongno

I don’t really know the Jongno area, but apparently there’s a beef soup place called Uyungmyeongwan where people queue up for the beef noodles. That place did so well that the owner opened a Chinese restaurant next door specialising in kaoliang liquor, or so I heard. Well, success is a good thing..

On the way

Goryangjukwan

I had no idea Jongno had developed this much..

Drinks menu

Goryangjukwan

Cold beef in sesame sauce

Goryangjukwan

I ordered one cold appetiser.

And a bottle of Fenjiu.

Goryangjukwan

There are plenty of expensive bottles, but I went for one with good value.

Fenjiu

Goryangjukwan

Nice aroma, decent taste, all good.

Cumin beef

Goryangjukwan

It’s a beef stir-fry, and it’s tasty.

Yuxiang eggplant with fried shrimp

Goryangjukwan

This one was obviously good too..

Brisket fried rice

Goryangjukwan

The menu isn’t all that varied, but every dish feels like real care went into it. I’m sure they’ll do even better from here.

Ceiling

Goryangjukwan

The interior looks like it would make a good date spot..

Yeongjiin

Goryangjukwan

It’s a bar nearby, and apparently a place where you can enjoy all sorts of drinks. Not sure whether I’ll ever get the chance to go.
